If you want to look good on your bike, you buy nice clothes. If you want to look super good, you naturally personalise your clothes with the personalised socks From charm cyclist. Your bike, just like your clothes and socks, isn't one-size-fits-all. Adjusting your bike to your body composition requires a bit more work and fine-tuning. This is done during a bike fitting.
While bike fit is very important, the person riding the bike is even more so. This is where the difference lies with a physio bike fitting. This also looks at how your body functions, where there can be better work done on mobility or, conversely, coordination, strength, and control in the kinetic chain and in the pedalling motion. This ensures that both your body and bike are optimally adjusted to each other for your goals.
Is a physiotherapy bike fit also beneficial for me?
A physio bike fitting can be done to prevent complaints, but also if you have complaints in daily life. The most common complaints people come to a physio bike fitting for are:
- Lower back pain;
- Pain between the shoulder blades and neck pain;
- Pain around the knee and/or kneecap.;
- Numbness and tingling in the hands and/or feet;
- Saddle sore.
You can also have a physio bike fit done if you'd like to know how to transfer more power to your pedals and which exercises are specifically good for you.
The contents of a physio bike fitting
Depending on the package you choose, the bike fit is 1 hour (basic), 1.5 hours (basic +) or 2.5 hours (complete). The physio bike fit is structured as follows:
The intake We start with an intake session in which your complaints, goals, cycling experience, and training will be discussed.
The physical examination: After the initial consultation, a physical examination follows where we look at possible causes of your complaints, as well as your flexibility, strength, coordination, and body composition.
The bike fit When we map everything out, we will of course look at how you are positioned on the bike. We will first measure your current settings and how you are currently sitting on the bike. We do this using camera footage and angle measurements while cycling. We also look at your cleats and adjust them where necessary. Once we have a clear picture of your baseline, we will adjust your bike so that you are more comfortable and the body and bike fit together better. We evaluate every step we take using camera footage.
The evaluation At the end of the physio bike fitting, we'll go over the changes, you'll receive advice on targeted exercises, and if necessary, advice on treatment.
