For cycling fans in the Low Countries, it's a common discussion: do you watch cycling on the High or on Sporza, “The Belgian”? Even though we are Dutch, we believe that you should watch your course at The Belgian, and we're happy to give you a few reasons why.

Knowledge of cycling

The knowledge of cycling among Belgian commentators is generally higher than among Dutch commentators. We personally find it a great shame that Michel Wuyts had to leave Sporza, because if anyone knows a lot about cycling, it's him. A walking encyclopedia who truly has an answer for everything. A shame... but even so, with De Belg you get many more nice facts and anecdotes.

Love for cycling

The Netherlands is very much a cycling nation, but we still have to acknowledge that our southern neighbours are better at embracing the sport. They have produced more and greater champions, and there are simply many more Belgian races with a lot of prestige than Dutch ones. Belgium hosts two Monuments, whereas we unfortunately have none. The country breathes more cycling history, and this is also reflected in the television coverage.

The focus on the course

The Belgians also simply give more media coverage to the race. Especially for Tour of Flanders Can you already get there from 9 am? And that after you've already been able to watch previews of the previews all week. And at the end of the year, we'll calmly look back on everything the year has offered us. Wonderful!
